![]() ![]() 6 But Peter said, “I have no silver or gold, but what I do have I give you. 4 Peter looked directly at him (as did John) and said, “Look at us!” 5 So the lame man paid attention to them, expecting to receive something from them. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple courts, he asked them for money. 2 And a man lame from birth was being carried up, who was placed at the temple gate called “the Beautiful Gate” every day so he could beg for money from those going into the temple courts. But before we do that, let us consider if we have focused on the right things and be sensitive to the real need of a person.1 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time for prayer, at three o’clock in the afternoon. In October leading up to the end of the year, there are several opportunities for us to bring people to church to hear the Gospel. And by responding to these needs, it can lead to opportunities to address deeper needs. We must accompany it with concern for their physical needs as well. And we must learn to not just address the spiritual pain and need of others. Sometimes we miss what is the real need of the person when he is in pain.īut pain provides the greatest opportunity for ministry. When the lame man called out to Peter and John, he was not asking about the Gospel but expressing his need. We often just focus on sharing the Gospel but let’s see how the Apostles responded to the “open invitation” by the lame man. Peter and John were sensitive to the needs of the people around them and not just on their spiritual needs. Many a person has come to Christ because of a suffering or pain in their lives. A Man’s Pain is an “Open Invitation” for the Gospel. So if we truly love God and worship Him, our love for our neigbour will never be far away. The first part is the foremost command and the second is inseparable from the first. The great commandment has two parts – love of God and love of neighbour. And the thing is this… if our hearts are always focused on God, telling people about Him becomes a natural response in our lives. What was Peter and John doing? They were going to the temple to worship God.īefore the miracle happened, they were setting out to worship God and not on an evangelism mission. The Worship of God must be Central in Our Lives And if you too, like me, need to get back on the evangelism train, consider the following lessons in the story of Peter healing the lame man. And reading today’s passage reminds me of how much I need to get back on track once again. One thing I have slacked off a lot in the last few months is on evangelism. But after reading it today, do you have any new thoughts or impressions? In fact, we even sing about it and RE children have also performed skits about it.Īnd I am sure you have heard many teachings about it already. Now this is a story we are all very familiar with. ![]() For example, in today’s passage… Ooops… I am getting ahead of myself… Bible Passage: Acts 3:1-11 Instead, there are many things that we can learn. ![]() The miracles and word of Jesus did not stop at the end of the Gospel books. We start a series on the “Miracles and Sermons in the book of Acts” this month. ![]()
